Boca Reservoir sits on the Little Truckee just below Stampede, at about 5,600 feet and a few miles east of Truckee, a small lake of about 1,000 acres right off Interstate 80. It holds rainbows and browns, with some kokanee, and it is an easy morning or evening trip from town.
The inlet, where the Little Truckee comes in from Stampede, is the fly water: browns and rainbows cruise there after ice-off and in fall, and streamers, leeches and nymphs on a sinking line take them. The lake is drawn down for irrigation and downstream flows through the summer. The statewide rules apply.
