Colorado
Green Mountain Reservoir lies at about 7,950 feet on the Blue River north of Silverthorne, a Reclamation reservoir of about 2,100 acres that feeds the lower Blue's tailwater. It holds lake trout, kokanee, rainbows and browns, and the lake trout limit is a generous 8.
Fly fishing is best near the inlets after ice-off and in fall, with streamers for lake trout and browns. Kokanee may be snagged from September through December. The reservoir is drawn down hard in some years, which leaves wide mud flats, so check the storage before a trip.
