Dry Falls Lake sits at the foot of the Dry Falls cliffs in Sun Lakes–Dry Falls State Park, where an Ice Age waterfall once poured over the Grand Coulee. It is small, about 100 acres, and managed as a quality fishery: selective gear, one trout of 18 inches or more, and no internal combustion motors. Rainbows and some tiger trout grow big on chironomids, damsels and scuds.
The season runs from March 1 through November. Spring is best, with chironomids and callibaetis bringing fish up, and fall fishes well too. A float tube or small pram is the way to fish it; the access road is rough. The lake is about 10 miles north of Lake Lenore.
